Milton 101 around the Sunflower State

August 01, 2013

We’d like to thank those of you who came out for our three Friedman Legacy of Freedom events around the Sunflower State yesterday. We had a series of great events in Topeka, Wichita and Garden City focusing on limited government, economic freedom, and school choice.

These events were in celebration of the late Dr. Milton Friedman, a Nobel laureate and influential economist who devoted his life and legacy to promoting economic freedom, especially in the area of school choice.

July 31 would have been Dr. Friedman’s 101st birthday, and AFPF-Kansas and many other organizations spent the day celebrating the impact he and his ideas have had on us, our country, and the entire world. Kansans who came out in support of Friedman’s legacy of freedom heard from a number of dynamic speakers and defenders of liberty, including Kansas State Representative Kasha Kelley (who chairs the Kansas House Education committee), Kansas State Senator Garrett Love, Dr. Milton Wolf, and former Deerfield High School teacher Joel McClure, a local teacher who led the effort in his school district to opt-out of the KNEA and NEA teachers unions.
